The College of Nursing Art and Science, Hyogo, is located in a region that was hit hard by the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake. From the time immediately following the earthquake, we have been continuously conducting mid- to long-term research focusing on victim assistance and the reconstruction of affected areas. For the various disasters that have occurred since the Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake, we have also researched these disasters' effects on people's lives as well as how nursing assistance should be provided.
The College's "Development of a Center of Excellence for Disaster Nursing in a Ubiquitous Society" research program was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's as one of the 21st Century COE programs. We will strive to create an information network that will allow anyone to access disaster nursing information anytime and anywhere so that both local residents and specialists will be able to effectively prepare for disasters. We also aim to develop into a research and education center of excellence in the field of disaster nursing that will provide information for the rest of the world. |
