You initiate action for continuation of treatment
After a disaster, hospitals will work to restore their functions and return to normal operation. To continue receiving treatment, you need to initiate action by going to a hospital. If your hospital is functioning, go to the hospital, explain your conditions and consult the doctor about a future treatment plan. If your hospital is not in operation, go to another hospital convenient for you to attend, explain your medical condition to the doctor and nurse by showing the memo about your record of past treatments, and consult with them about a future treatment plan.
Contact your doctor
Doctors fully understand each patient’s condition, record of treatments, etc., and cooperate with other doctors, for example, by referring a patient to another doctor if necessary. In emergency situations, doctors will work at hospitals wherever possible. So try to make contact with your hospital.
You need to contact your hospital as soon as possible, especially when you run out of medicine or when you fail to control your symptoms. If you hesitate to go to the hospital, because you assume that doctors and nurses are tied up with disaster victims, your symptoms may worsen, and will make treatment more difficult. After a disaster, you need to contact your doctor and consult with him/her about how you can continue to receive treatment.
