Research Section for Information Base Development

The Information Center Development Research Section, in collaboration with the Support Network Establishment and Nursing Care Strategy Research sections, is:

1. Creating a database system of disaster nursing case studies through which disaster-related literature and follow-up surveys can be searched, and in which disaster support information can be stored;

2. Developing an information supply system.

3. Developing a regional disaster nursing support system to ensure preparedness for disasters;

Establishing a disaster nursing case study database system

The disaster nursing case study database system has added 79 new theses and papers of literature to an existing 394-papers each system established based on advanced research, refining them into a 473-papers uper-system.

It acts as a data warehouse system from which nurses can access the information they need straight away, and also has the capacity to add new data.

Developing an information supply system

The information supply system is to be implemented upon development by all groups and integrates telecommunications networks. At present, the system is under construction by each group.

For example: Streaming, Care Package of Each Nursing Care Strategy Section, Primary and Initial survey on the Support Network Establishment, Function of Information Exchange(mailing-list), Information about training, Public Information.

Developing a regional disaster nursing support system to ensure preparedness for disasters

Analysis of the results of disaster nursing case studies revealed the importance of preparing for disasters in non-disaster times. For this reason, this research is creating a simulation model to assess the degree of preparedness through nursing intervention necessity elements. We will perform to assess the ability of people in community to prepare for disasters in non-disaster times.

The result of the assessments, we perform an education and nursing intervention to people in community through connecting with related other projects, the Research Section for Nursing Care Strategy Development and the Support Network Establishment Research Section. Furthermore, we will help for nurses and their disaster nursing practice. Aiming of our major task is that to support for empowerment of a disaster preparedness for individuals and local communities in society.
