【A workshop on disaster preparedness was held for nursing professionals in Tokyo】

The workshop was attended by a total of 37 nursing professionals from 12 hospital wards (in either Kanto Medical Center NTT EC or Toshiba General Hospital). Each ward presented its own “disaster preparedness plan” drawn up in the month following the first workshop. The plans included specifics on issues such as “shoring up risky places” and “identifying the roles of nurses during a disaster.” In addition, discussions were held on how measures should be implemented, as well as on the statuses of other hospitals.

These programs provide information particularly important to pregnant women who are intended to incorporate disaster preparedness planning into　perinatal education classes. Hospitals in Kyushu, Shikoku, and the Kanto Region have begun offering these programs, which were already available at hospitals in the Kinki　region.
