(1) Inform relevant people.
Contact your primary hospital or a midwife who is close by, as well as those who will help you in the delivery and after-delivery process. |
(2) Check how your baby is breathing.
Check to see if your baby is crying, moving his/her limbs, and whether his/her skin is pink or not.
If your baby is not crying, rub hard on the legs and the babyfs back for stimulation. |
(3) Warm your babyfs body.
Thoroughly wipe off all remains of amniotic fluid and blood on your babyfs body using a soft cloth. When dry, wrap with a soft bath towel or a blanket. The mother or a family member should hold the baby. |
(4) Wait for the placenta to be delivered spontaneously.
Normally the placenta has delivered within 30 minutes. |
(5) Put the delivered placenta in a plastic bag. |
(6) Take care of lochia (bleeding & discharge shortly after delivery)
There will be vaginal bleeding after giving birth, so use maxi-pads the size of disposable diapers or a bath towel. It works for contraction of uterus to suck mothersf nipple. It is abnormal if you continue to bleed. Should this happen, go to a nearby hospital immediately. |
(7) Go to a hospital.
On your way to a hospital, ask others to help you, and try to stay in a lying position as much as possible. |
