Symptoms often seen in pregnant women, postpartum mothers and newborns


Symptoms regarding the bodies of pregnant women and postpartum mothers

* Abdomen hardens (imminent abortion/imminent premature delivery)
* albuminuria, weight increase / higher blood pressure, potentiation of edema (pregnancy induced hypertension)
* fewer fetal movements (temporary in most cases)
* less secretion of breast milk
* catches cold easily
* constipated

Symptoms regarding the minds of pregnant women and postpartum mothers

Regarding the fetus or child * Becomes anxious about the condition of the fetus
* feels guilty that she is not a good mother
* has difficulty calming a grumpy child and becomes irritated
* scolds the child more than necessary
* loses the will to raise the child
Regarding pregnancy and delivery * Becomes anxious about whether she can get to a hospital when contractions begin
* experiences a sense of loss because pregnancy and/or delivery is not what she had imagined
Regarding changes in the living space * Because of differences in past experiences, feels that she is out of place and that relationships with others including family members become awkward
* becomes overly nervous to others because she has a child with her
* feels abandoned
* has no opportunity to express how she is feeling
Regarding stress reactions * Feels somewhat depressed for no reason
* easily irritated
* feels lethargic
* tires easily
* feels gloomy
* appetite increases and/or decreases
* cannot sleep soundly
* becomes overly sensitive to noises and tremors
* has ringing in the ears
* cannot stop shaking
* feels anxious and sad every day
* cries for no reason

Symptoms regarding babies and toddlers

* Becomes scared often
* will not sleep much at night
* cries at night
* cries and becomes angry more than usual
* toddler suddenly behaves like a baby
* there are diaper rashes
* rashes
