Research Institute of Nursing Care for People and Community(RINCPC),University of Hyogo has been designated as WHO collaborating centre for nursing in disaster and health emergency management. The center’s inauguration ceremony will be held on 12 June, 2007 at RINCPC.

We at University of Hyogo, formerly known as College of Nursing Art and Science Hyogo, have accumulated a wide range of knowledge, skills and techniques of disaster nursing through our experiences in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake as well as the research results of our COE program development of a Center of Excellence for Disaster Nursing in a Ubiquitous Society.? We had filed an application for designation as WHO collaborating center in order to serve as a global hub for disaster nursing.? On 24 May, 2007, we were designated as Japan’s second WHO collaborating centre in the field of nursing.

Shigeru Omi, Regional Director of WHO Western Pacific Regional Office, Jean Yan, Chief Scientist of Nursing and Midwifery Office, WHO, Yoko Nomura, Director of Nursing Division, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and Koji Miura, Director of Medical Education Division, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology are among the guests to the 12 June inauguration ceremony.? With Governor Toshizo Ido in attendance, Omi will present the designation certificate to Hiroko Minami, Director of RINCPC.? The centrefs official name and its objectives are shown below.
